About 15-45 minutes before your procedure, the dentist will administer oral medication. This type of sedation will put you into a dreamlike state of indifference, keeping you relaxed and comfortable while the dentist is working on your smile.
Before the procedure:
- Do not drink alcoholic beverages in the 18 hours before your procedure
- Do not eat, drink or take any medication after midnight on the night before your procedure (unless otherwise instructed by the dentist)
- Arrange for a friend or family member to take you home after your procedure. They may be given instructions on your behalf, so you cannot leave in a taxi or use public transportation.
- Arrange for a friend or family member to stay with you for the first 24 hours after your procedure
- Remove any nail polish or artificial nails before the appointment (so we can properly monitor your pulse and oxygen levels)
- Do not wear contact lenses to the appointment
